The Beltline

The Atlanta BeltLine is a $2.8 billion redevelopment project that will shape the way Atlanta grows over the next 25 years and beyond. The project proposes a network of public parks, multi-use trails and transit along a historic railroad corridor circling downtown and connecting many neighborhoods directly to each other by streetcar or light rail.

Construction for the "Model Mile" began at White Street in January 2008. The official groundbreaking took place on February 23, 2008 with Mayor Shirley Franklin.

Groundbreaking for the Westview portion of the trail will be held by June 30, 2008. The first phase of the BeltLine development is managed by Trees Atlanta and the PATH Foundation and will feature meandering walking paths and an arboretum with hickory, oak, sourwood, beech, maple, and ash trees. Additionally, Westview will be able to enjoy a large park behind Enota Place called Enota Park that is expected to be completed within the next five years.

A proposed BeltLine station will be a five minute walk from the Westview Village. The station will be located at the intersection of Langhorn Street and Ralph David Abernathy Blvd, near the Kroger CitiCenter.
